Shay Maguire was born in Dublin, Ireland and has been painting over 30 years. Shay has a passion for Dublin city and is moved to capture real scenes from the streets in a contemporary and gritty style using palette knife and brush.

In contrast he also paints regularly in Mayo in the West of Ireland where the wonder of nature can be experienced at its wildest.  Shay is renowned for his Bog Cotton watercolours scenes, often showing pure white delicate bog cottons blowing in the wind, against a backdrop of an atmospheric dark and moody blue sky.
